If you are looking to get the first oil change in a Subaru Forester, it is recommended that you use 0w-20 synthetic oil for the 2.5 liter Boxer engine and 5w-30 synthetic for the 2.0 turbo Boxer engine. The Subaru Crosstrek and the Subaru Impreza should use 0w-20 synthetic oil. When you are caring for the high performance that comes from a Subaru WRX or the Subaru BRZ, it is strongly recommended that you trust 5w-30 synthetic oil for the first oil change.
